Praised for her captivating stage presence and versatile voice, Bridget Patterson is one of the most exciting performers to grace both the operatic and theatrical stage.

Bridget graduated from The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with both an Advanced Diploma of Opera in 2014 and a Bachelor of Music Performance in 2011. Whilst studying, Bridget was awarded the prestigious Helen Myers scholarship for vocal excellence. She graduated the Conservatorium with a High Distinction.

Fresh from the Carols in the Domain stage, where she appeared for her fifth consecutive year as one of the “Young stars of Australian Opera”, Bridget is currently preparing for 2024, where she will make her professional theatrical debut playing the role of Sophie De Palma in Terrance McNally’s Master Class at Ensemble Theatre.

In 2023 Bridget toured NSW schools playing the role of Isabella in Opera Australia’s production of El Kid. Selected as one of five soloists, she subsequently toured throughout 2023 with Precedent Productions performing for the Local Business Awards. In April, she made her Gilbert and Sullivan debut as Mabel in Mosman Musical Society’s production of Pirates of Penzance at the Zenith Theatre.

In previous years Bridget has appeared with the country’s flagship company, Opera Australia, in their Sydney Harbour productions of Carmen and La Boheme. She prepared La Traviata for the 2020 summer season which was sadly cancelled due to Covid-19.

As a concert soloist, Bridget made her 2019 debut at Sydney Opera House in Hooked on Classics for Metropolis Touring which subsequently toured nationally. She appeared on stage as a vocalist for Hans Zimmer in his 2017 Revealed Live tour (MJR), ABBA Spectacular (MJR) and Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy (MJR). 

Bridget was recognised as one of Australia’s finest young opera singers when she featured in Sydney’s Carols in the Domain from 2018-2023. Nominated as one of the “Young stars of Australian Opera” this was broadcast on the Seven Network.

Some of Bridget’s other notable roles include Susan in Company (Oxford on Limelight), Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd (MUSE), Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro (Sydney Conservatorium of Music), Amy in Little Women (SCM), Miss Pinkerton in The old maid and the thief (SCM), Fidalma in Il Matrimonio il segreto (SCM), Venus in Orpheus in the Underworld (SCM) and created the role of Annie Lock in the world premier of Anne Boyd’s Daisy Bates at Ooldea (SCM).

On screen Bridget is a featured singer in Bruce Beresford’s 2018 film Ladies in Black and in the same year originated the role of “Jenny” in Beatrice; The Professional Understudy with Canvas Collective.

Bridget’s work in oratorio and sacred masses is extensive. She has sung major works by composers including Bach, Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart and in 2012 she was the Mezzo-Soprano soloist in Sydney Town Hall’s annual Messiah by Handel. 

With music education very close to her heart, Bridget’s educational concerts have included Musical Opposites for both Willoughby and Penrith Symphony Orchestras and recently, in collaboration with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and George Ellis, Mini-Maestro’s: Disney Classics. She has toured regional Australia with David Miller AM in The Great Southern Tour and is co-founder of Sydney based workshop company Songbird Studios which delivers highly imaginative and creative  music workshop programs for children of all ages.

Not only at home in the classical world, her range and versatility lend itself easily to contemporary repertoire. She has toured nationally as “Frida” in Australia’s premier ABBA tribute band; Mamamia: A Tribute to ABBA and regularly performs in small ensembles in both musical theatre and contemporary settings as a freelance artist.

While the performing arts were severely limited during the pandemic, Bridget turned her attentions to various recording projects. These included excerpts of Phantom of the Opera with Mark Vincent for Sony Music and Mezzo-Soprano soloist in Nicholas Gentile’s 2021 work World Peace Suite. 

Bridget is a dual citizen of England and Australia.
